Austin 2008

I will do it in english from now on, because i suddenly got to many american visitors.

Saturday i went to Austin, Texas. I went there to hook up with a co worker of mine, Lars and his to friends Tom and Trond. They are on a major roadtrip starting from New york, to Washington, Nashville, New Orleans, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Oklahoma city, Las Vegas and ending up in Los Angeles. All this will happen in 4 weeks.

We rented a Volvo S40, packed up our gear and drove down round noon. With a lot of traffic, several car accidents and other stops due to thirst and hunger, we finally arrived in Austin about 6 pm. Michael, Logan and Jared went to see a friend of Michael and his family, and i started my experience in sixth street and the musical festival South by Southwest. half an hour later i hooked up with Lars, Trond, Tom, Greg, Kathrine and Asgeir. We started with a meal at the boiling pot, a restaurant on the corner of Sixth street and Sabine Street. where they served a meal containing a mix of food which they just pored all over the table, see picture.

we continued to what i would call a shady establisement, or as we would say in norwegian en brun bule. the theme for the evening was two really good bands, which played Hard Rock. Cool music, for those who enjoy such.

10 pm we went back to Dallas, due to bedtime for the kids. i would have liked to have been there for a longer period of time, but maybe next time around. The day has only so many hours, and i'm sorry to say, this day we ran out.
